So glad to hear I'm not the only one allergic to self-help books! I just get so annoyed that they have the message, "Do it this way and your life/your kid's life/whatever will be awesome; don't do it this way, and you/they will be scarred for life." Every single one.
The don't take her class, take your class ethos is very much part of my barre studio and I'm pretty sure that's a big reason I am so endlessly devoted. I couldn't "get" this at yoga, and I'm not flex-y physically so it's a recipe for feeling deeply inadequate -- although if some teacher shows up of my dreams again, I'm sure to return to yoga. All to say I appreciated the body journey story you shared.
I don't know that I have read past the first chapter of a self-help book and definitely do the quizzes and believe them in the same way I believe fortune cookies. I am impressed with your own steps
I know this wasn't your aim or thought, but I feel so validated for reading all the (relevant-to-me) self-help articles and none of the books. And one of my fundamental theories that just about everything that starts off good gets worse when it gets too big. And I so admire the self-improvement steps! And the Moon Pie (which might be one thing that would be better if it were bigger).

Sounds like you may be more justified in your opinion, and yes!
In fairness, I do tend to read one or two self-help books every year, and I always think they're very repetitive, too!

I’ve always known that I’m supposed to “stay on your mat,” but I’m hoping I can now do a better job of it.
Ha! This is exactly why I stopped doing yoga a few years ago - and now only go if a friend wants to take class together :)

Kiwis!

I am so glad you do that too!!
You are now making me feel better about the myriad self help books I have begun and not finished!
Oh, I’m like you with those—read them, do them…then mostly forget them, honestly
And all the articles and quizzes?
