When Grandma Susan and her identical twin, Harriet, were growing up in Burlington, VT, they wrote Maud a fan letter. They would have been about 10 at the time, so 1918, I think. She wrote them back a lovely note, which the family preserved, along with a first impression of Anne of Green Gables. Beloved by them at the time (of course), over the years it became A Precious Thing. Both book and letters were recently auctioned off for a lot of money - this collecting thing is a big deal to lots of folks.
Wait did you collect that many trinkets that magically became a collage before the end of the summer?! And you should remind people to read in the Substack apps. I am often too lazy and just read on my phone and then miss the fantastic photos!
Oh, no, all I bought was two books, but I took a lot of pictures! Where are you reading it? I don’t even have the substack app, but I see the photos on my phone and computer, in both browser and email.
Thank you for the Carly. We were in Montreal for three days or so, and I didn't notice the lack of (glaring) income inequality (though I think I can see it in retrospect now that you identified it in/from your Canada experience), probably because I was so surprised by how very French it was from the moment we drove across the border somewhere north of Burlington VT and then by how gloriously bilingual was apparently every single inhabitant. Like two young Montrealers talking to each other in two languages fluidly interwoven in the same sentence.
I adored your insights into our very own cottage-core red-headed Disneyland. I have yet to get over to that side of the country.
Highly recommend it!
Also enjoying the TS12 anticipation. And the anticipation of reading Anne of Green Gables with the kids!

Well, Montreal (and Quebec) is kind of its own thing altogether…
You make me want to go to PEI so much!
