Hi, I’m Becca.
I’ve been writing since I was a small child dictating stories to my parents. I started my first journal when I was eight - and abandoned it soon thereafter. I published my first letter to the editor when I was ten.
In college I got serious about keeping a journal, wrote a bunch of poems, published my first story in a literary magazine, and edited my first magazine (ok, I’ve only edited two magazines).
I’ve written a zillion book reviews, a lot of essays and articles, a books column, an actual book, viral open letters, and all sorts of things for all sorts of jobs. Starting around 2004 (which is coincidentally right about when I stopped keeping a regular journal), I wrote a blog, then a brief tumblr, and an awful lot of social media posts.
In the last couple of years, I’ve eased off social media, but I missed having a place to write. So here I am, writing about whatever comes to mind, including books, culture, politics, and events in the world or my life that are worth reflecting upon.
Thank you for reading!
