Oh, I hate both autocorrect and texting. I will erase filled in text and write it myself out of orneryness-- also I've got arthritis in my thumbs, so it takes me forever to hunt and peck and is uncomfortable. So happy you mentioned enshittification!

I write it myself too!! Pure orneryness, but isn’t holding onto our orneryness essential in this moment?

I am not going to tell you to do anything but keep on (self-corrected from "in") ranting, and I love you.

Not to get all "GET OFF MY LAWN, WHIPPERSNAPPERS" but I frequently miss my Blackberry. Now THERE was a small keyboard my skinny-fat fingers could dexterously manipulate. I, like you, am an utter disaster texting on my iPhone.

Thank you for helping me feel seen.

Oh, I so feel this post, really! I have not turned off autocorrect, and sometimes I do appreciate autocomplete (though I kind of forget about it because I often type faster than it can propose), but I, too, have noticed how much worse autocorrect has become, and I am so annoyed by it. But, honestly, it's not really a footnote that Reddit and Wikipedia are the only things that work anymore--that is the thesis, right? That people do this stuff better than the machines, and that the machines, having gotten considerably better for a while, are now getting worse. It will happen with AI too, I'm confident. (That said, I'm glad it's a footnote, because I love the footnotes!) And now I am off to read your various recommendations!

Definitely the thesis, and deeply supported by Grammar Table!
